Hello ya’ll! My name is Simone Garrison, and I was born and raised in Houston, Texas. My hobbies include cooking, reading, watching films, and traveling. I strive to give 100% in everything I do and to pursue all my goals, no matter how hard they may be.
Why are you passionate about aviation?
I became interested in aviation because of my experiences traveling as a child, but I stayed passionate because of how challenging aviation is. It pushes me to be my best and to continue learning.
Why did you choose to apply to Tuskegee NEXT and how did you hear about the program?
I chose to apply to Tuskegee NEXT because I was looking for a program exactly like this one that would highlight mentorship, life skills, and the many doors it would open for me in the aviation industry. I had heard glowing reviews of the program from Tuskegee NEXT alums at my school and from a representative at the 2025 OBAP conference.
What are your future aviation aspirations?
I aspire to become a Corporate pilot, and further down the line, I’m also interested in becoming an Aircraft Mechanic. I also want to give back the same opportunities and knowledge that Tuskegee NEXT has given me by introducing young African American girls to the world of aviation, so that they know there is space for them within aviation if they choose to follow this path.
Fun Fact:
Other than Aviation, I am also passionate about music; some of my favorite artists range from Brent Faiyaz to Chet Baker to Donny Hathaway. I’ve also played 5 sports (soccer, track and field, basketball, dance, and gymnastics).
