About Me:
My name is Joseph Henderson, and I am currently attending Texas Southern University, majoring in Aviation Science Management. I enjoy challenges and fast-paced environments, which is one of the reasons I was drawn to Tuskegee Next. I currently serve as the Student Advisor for my OBAP chapter at Texas Southern and am an active member of Women in Aviation, where I continue to grow within the aviation community. Outside of aviation, I love playing sports (especially pickleball) and hiking with my family!
Why are you passionate about aviation?
I am passionate about aviation because it allows me to inspire and make a difference in the lives of others. As a first-generation pilot in my family, I want to prove to my siblings that no goal is out of reach when you put in the work and stay committed. Since I was young, I have always thought planes were so cool, and now that I am older, I can turn that admiration into a career. Through aviation, I hope not only to accomplish my goals but also to help the next generation succeed and show them that no goal is impossible.
Why did you choose to apply to Tuskegee NEXT and how did you hear about the program?
I applied to Tuskegee NEXT because I saw it as the first foundational step in my aviation career. Being surrounded by other motivated, like-minded individuals who share the same goals as I do pushes me to grow and helps shape me into the pilot and leader I aspire to become. I was introduced to the program through a Tuskegee NEXT alumnus.

What are your future aviation aspirations?
My future goal is to become a commercial pilot for Delta Air Lines and to create my own nonprofit flight program that expands opportunities for young aspiring aviators.
