World Pilots’ Day: Honoring Legacy and the Future of Flight
April 26 marks World Pilots’ Day, a time to celebrate the perseverance, skill, and excellence of pilots around the world.
Today, we honor the legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen, whose impact continues to shape the aviation industry, as well as the many Black and Brown pilots flying today across commercial and military spaces. Their contributions have helped diversify the skies and paved the way for organizations like Tuskegee NEXT to continue that work.
They not only showed the world what Black aviators could achieve, but they also paved the way for our cadets, many of whom have gone on to earn their pilot licenses and pursue careers in aviation, carrying that legacy forward.
Today, we are proud to highlight a few of our cadets and alumni who have earned their private pilot licenses and are now building careers in aviation:
Farilyn Hunt
First Officer, Endeavor Air
Class of 2018
Kevin Lindsey Jr.
Captain, SkyWest Airlines
Class of 2015
Jonathon Dixon
Pilot, U.S. Navy
Class of 2018
Thaddeus J. Wordlaw
Airline Pilot, United Express - Commute Air
Class of 2019
We beam with pride as we watch you continue to expand representation in modern aviation and pursue your dedication to flight. The hours of training, discipline, and technical skill you’ve developed have brought you this far and will continue to carry you forward.
You are not only pilots, but stewards of the skies. We thank you.
In honor of World Pilots’ Day, if you’d like to support the future of aviation, consider making a donation today. Your support helps provide training, mentorship, and access for the next generation of pilots to take flight.
